Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 16, 2026

Overview

AtlasOS is an open-source project that modifies Windows to improve performance, privacy, and usability. We keep data collection to a minimum and explain here exactly what we do process. This policy covers the AtlasOS website (atlasos.net), the services it uses, and the AtlasOS software including Atlas Manager. The bot of the AtlasOS Discord server has its own privacy policy .

Website Analytics

We measure website traffic with Plausible Analytics Community Edition, which we host ourselves at pla.atlasos.net. It does not use cookies and does not track you across websites. To count unique visitors, Plausible combines your IP address and browser user agent with a random value that changes every 24 hours and keeps only the resulting one-way identifier; your IP address is used to look up your country and is never stored. We see aggregate statistics such as page views, referring sites, browser, operating system, and country. The data stays on our own server and is not shared with Plausible or anyone else.

Download Counter

When you click a download button, the website tells our download counter at api.atlasos.net that a download happened. So that each visitor is counted once per version, the counter stores a one-way hash of your IP address combined with the version and a secret key. Your IP address itself is not stored, and the counter keeps no logs of it. The hashes are kept so that repeat downloads are not counted twice.

The homepage also shows how many people starred AtlasOS on GitHub and the public GitHub names and avatars of recent stargazers, which our server copies from GitHub's public API.

AI Documentation Assistant

Our documentation includes an optional AI assistant provided by Kapa.ai . It only loads when you open it. Your questions and the conversation are sent to Kapa.ai to generate answers, and Kapa.ai protects the assistant against abuse with Google reCAPTCHA, so Google also receives information about your browser while you use it. See Kapa.ai's privacy policy and Google's privacy policy .

Windows ISO Downloads

The Windows download tool in our documentation asks our Cloudflare Worker for official download links. The Worker retrieves them from Microsoft and caches the links (and nothing about you) for up to 24 hours. The ISO file itself downloads directly from Microsoft, which receives your IP address under Microsoft's privacy statement . Cloudflare keeps short-lived technical logs of requests to the Worker for troubleshooting.

Other Services Your Browser Contacts

Some pages load release information directly from GitHub's API, and download buttons and links lead to GitHub (Atlas releases), Ameliorated (AME Wizard), jsDelivr (brand assets), and Microsoft. When your browser connects to these services, they receive your IP address and process it under their own privacy policies.

Cookies

This website does not set any cookies of its own, and our analytics work without cookies. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie when it checks whether a visitor is a bot, and the AI assistant may store data in your browser while you use it. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Data We Do Not Collect

  • The website does not ask for your name or email address, and we do not store visitors' IP addresses.
  • We do not use cookies or local storage to track you, and we do not track you across websites.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties for advertising or marketing.
  • We do not build profiles of visitors.

AtlasOS Software

AtlasOS runs entirely on your PC and has no telemetry. Atlas Manager connects on its own only to GitHub, to check for and download Atlas releases, and to Microsoft's Windows release information page. It identifies itself to them as Atlas Manager, and they receive your IP address. All source code is publicly available on GitHub .

Nothing is sent to us unless you choose Send a report in Atlas Manager or use the report website at reports.atlasos.net. A report contains your message, any contact details you choose to give, the Atlas Manager version, and any diagnostics you include; you can review the diagnostics before sending. Reports are visible only to the Atlas team. The team may use AI services from other companies to help investigate; these receive your message and diagnostics but never your contact details. Reports, and any copies the team downloads, are deleted after 90 days. The report service's security systems may record connection details, including IP addresses.

Email

If you email us, we receive your email address and message. Cloudflare Email Routing forwards them to the team, and we use them only to reply to you.

Hosting & Security

The website is hosted on Cloudflare . Our analytics, download counter and status page run on a server operated by AtlasOS that is reachable only through Cloudflare, with its data encrypted at rest. Cloudflare processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver the site and protect it from attacks; see Cloudflare's privacy policy . All of our sites are served only over HTTPS.

Your Rights

You can ask us what data we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing us. Website analytics cannot be linked back to you. For a report you sent, tell us roughly when you sent it and any contact details you gave so we can find it. We respond within 30 days.

Children's Privacy

This website is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We will update this policy when we start processing something new or use data differently. The date at the top always shows the latest version.
